THE 90´S CHIC

THE 1990´S. how to turn DISASTER into CHIC, a GUIDE.

The fashion was as high as the people in it.

The music was high, the supermodels were high, the teenagers were high. There was some kind of HIGHNESS in the air, maybe as magical as the people who characterize the decade.Amazing faces, unbelievable bodys, extraordinary designs and the very unavoidable need of finding your own niche.

Nothing would stop these crazy people beacuse they had this young force that would turn them into absolute ICONS. Young (and not that young) people really wanted to be them: dress, act, talk, walk, look like them. Women and men reached a level of grunge refined look that wore on the streets every single day.

There weren´t normal clothes: even the MINIMALISM was convoluted. And maybe all of this find a reason in one special group of humans:

THE SUPERMODELS

Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Amber Valetta, Christy Turlingnton, Cindy Crawford, Shalom Harlow and a few more because being a supermodel wasn´t for everyone. It was like almost being in a royalty.

Chic, elegant, extravagant, femenine and a little bit arrogant, they definetly were anothe type og girls. And i say GIRLS because the average age for their first steps into fashion was 15 and 16 YEARS OLD! Just think about the fact that THE KATE MOSS was discover at 14 years old. Amazing.

Natural faces, ethereal hairs and sculpted bodys were IT. There was no way of escaping from the 90´s CHICNESS.

You loved or you hated them, no middle point. Whatever your opinion was, we all remember their names an their looks.

Having said this, let me introduce you into the reasons WHY THEY WERE SO MAGNETIC and the HOW to achieve (or try to achive) THEIR LOOKS:

Amber Valetta
1- WEAR ONE-COLOUR CLOTHES: even when they were experimenting with tons of colours and textures, the supermodels opted for neutral, simple tones on their daily outfits. This is what you see on social media, the famous "MODEL OFF-DUTY comes from here.

Wear clothes that are your side or 1-2 sizes bigger. Don´t use things that make you look like you just got out of the bed 15 minutes ago.

What was so special about them? Well, it is that they ALWAYS looked SOFISTICATED, even when they didn´t wanted.

Claudia Schiffer, 1990

2- BIG HAIR: i know that we arent in the 80´s, but im not talking about the extravagant voluminous hair. We want it big but chic, big enough to make someone fall in love with you. The thing is that you gotta look like a dream come true, say no more. Do you know who im talking about too? CARRIE BRADSHAW. Yes, Sarah Jessica Parker was kinda of an IT GIRL back in the day, and with the 90s back, we see her almost in every social media. That type of hair was the top if Hairness. Do you feel me? Just go out with your natural hair, we need that femenine energy on the streets again.

Claudia and Cindy are the inspo when it comes to fluffy hair!

3- UNIQUE JEWELRY: You must NOT buy that tiktok ring you just saw. Make yourself a favor and find your very own style when it comes to your daily jewelry. Yes, it will take you some effort but believe, in the 90s the models had their personal rings and necklaces that had nothing to do with their job. They wore 2 rings by each hand and 1 bracelet that represented their personality.

Linda, Naomi and Christy

Take your time being you!

4- Don´t you DARE to forget the SUNGLASSES! : big, brown and beautiful sunglasses were exactly what the girls were wearing all the time (even at night). Find your pair on vintage stores or second-hand websites, you must just look and look until finding the best ones for your face and personality.

Let me show you what vibe im bringing to the table

Christy Turlington

Kate Moss

4-DON´T TORTURE YOURSELF WITH MAKEUP: We want to see natural features, real skins, real tooth and everything that makes you, YOU!

Of course they used makeup, but always trying to keep it natural. Mascara, lip combo and some blush, that was it. Prioritize a good skincare, drink water and take 15 monutes of sun light everyday, then you´re ready to shine without excessive highlighter!

Cindy Crawford
Brown and REd-wine colours are an excellent choice for this looks.
Think abot movies that came out during the 1990´s, there is many inspiration to beginning with.

5- BAGS AND SHOES, THE SIMPLIEST THE BEST: i think that part of the 90´s resides in simplicity: not wasting to much time and not buying fast-fashion items just beacuse. Bags and shoes werent the exception, they made them look so effortlessly chic and classy without looking like a 1940s wife (not offending)

One colour, preferably that they stylize your natural figure and not much!
I recommend you to invest in some good pairs of shoes and one or two practical and simple bags.
Kate Moss

Kate and Christy

CONGRATULATIONS! You made it to the end and now you look like a total 1990´s supermodel. Hope you don´t dr1nk that much!
I´m
Paz Vera, and im all ears to any recommendations or comment you wanna tell me.
